Getting Started

The first thing you have to do when you start playing Mafia Wars is get some jobs done. This is the only way you’ll be able to get some money in the bank and start building up the experience and skill points you’ll need to advance. The more experience points you gain, the faster you get to new levels and unlock more options.

Cash

As you earn this money, you may be tempted to go out and buy a bunch of fancy equipment and weapons. Resist this urge. You’ll accumulate plenty of this type of stuff out of necessity for jobs or by looting when you complete a job. You will eventually have to go out and spend money on weapons and armaments for your mafia once you’ve built it up. It’s best though to wait until you know exactly what you need for this and have the money to get it.

Money Management

This section will give you a complete strategy of how to spend your cash and EXACTLY what you need to do first before you even begin to make sure you get to the top.

Properties

That doesn’t mean that any investment is a good investment however. Some properties pay better than others. It’s good to diversify, but you want to have as many properties as you can that give you a solid return on your investment. When you’re calculating this, you have to take into account how much the land costs as well as how much it costs to build on it.

One thing it’s important to understand about purchasing properties is that the cost of a particular type increases every time you buy it. In order to get as many of a particular type of property at the lowest possible cost, you have to buy a lot of them at once. This way, you’ll pay the same low price for each of them. If you buy properties one by one, you’ll wind up paying progressively more for each one.

Skill Points

Money isn’t the only thing you have to be sure to spend wisely. You gain skill points from mastering jobs and from leveling up. You can use these points in several ways to increase your character’s abilities. You have the option of adding to your character’s attack effectiveness, defensive strength, maximum health, maximum energy, or maximum stamina. To do this, click on the Profile tab and then select the area you’d like to add to.

This is a VERY important section if you don’t raise your skill points properly you will come unstuck and end up with a weak mafia.

Fights

Despite all this, you will have occasion to fight as you advance in the game. There are several factors that will determine how well you do in these fights. Preparing yourself ahead of time will make it much easier for you to win fights on a regular basis and keep moving up quickly in the game.

Boss Fights

You’ll always have the opportunity to take revenge on another boss for some infraction against yourself or a member of your family. Unlike other fights in the game, these fights go multiple rounds. At the end of each round, you’ll have the option of attacking again or running away. If you run away, you’ll do some damage to your status. Losing the fight though will cost you a lot more.

The Facts About Godfather Points

Godfather points are extremely valuable in Mafia Wars. They have many uses and can get you out of a lot of jams. For all of these reasons though, they’re pretty tough to come by. You obtain a Godfather point every time you level up, but that’s not going to get you a stockpile quickly. You’ll probably need to supplement this basic income in other ways in order to gain enough to be successful in the game.
